want to write for march shredness?

Or for one of our future tournaments? March Shredness (or Fadness, Sadness, etc.) is a yearly tournament of essays about songs. The tournament itself happens in March each year, with play-in games in February and January. We also publish essays on related or adjacent material, like the hairstyles of Poison, the life and lifespan of a one-hit wonder, or just on songs that didn't make it into the tournament. (Or maybe did, but we needed a second essay on it.) We also publish interviews and conversations with artists and musicians. All of these happen outside of the month of March. Songs for the actual March Shredness tournament in March are at this point almost entirely assigned, but if you feel strongly about, say, Quiet Riot's "Metal Health (Bang Your Head") and want to write about it, or the Sleeze Beez or whatever, pitch us. We publish essays all year long.

We're also curating a series of poems about hair metal this year, so feel free to send suggestions (or poems) our way. We'll mostly be reprinting poems, but expect also to publish original works too. Send via email.

2019's tournament, though a long ways away now, will be March Vladness (the goth bracket).
